The Scottsdale Cultural Council has appointed Neale Perl as its new president and CEO. Perl is the president emeritus of D.C.-based Washington Performing Arts, where he served as president and CEO from 2002 to 2013. K-Bach’s Sterling Beeaff chatted with Neale about his background, as both cellist and arts administrator, and his new role with the Scottsdale Cultural Council .
The 2014 Red Rocks Music Festival celebrates The Magnificent Blend of Voice and Strings this August 28 through 31, with a series of concerts at the Arizona Opera Center in downtown Phoenix, and at the Sedona Creative Life Center. This August the Grand Canyon Music Festival's Native American Composer Apprenticeship program is celebrating 10 years of music making. String quartet ETHEL has been the ensemble-in-residence for the program from its inception.
14-year-old Sade Moore was given an opportunity this year: a program at her school called “Heroic Journey” -so without formal classical training Sade chose to write a piece of instrumental music.
